Looking for quiet bike paths, sparkling lake views and a hearty dose of Québecois charm? This 7-day Lac Saint-Jean bike tour brings you all three, and plenty of blueberries, boreal forests, waterfalls, and welcoming small towns. Your week-long adventure begins in historic Québec City before heading north to ride portions of the celebrated Véloroute des Bleuets.

Pedal through Pointe-Taillon National Park, where sandy beaches, peatlands and forest trails create a peaceful lakeside ride. Keep an eye out for moose, beavers and birds as you follow dedicated paths and quiet country roads through blueberry fields and villages that feel wonderfully rooted in place.

Off the bike, visit the Zoo Sauvage de Saint-Félicien, enjoy lunch beside Les Chutes à l’Ours, explore the underground world of Trou de la Fée and spend two nights in the preserved historic village of Val-Jalbert. With friendly support, local flavor and scenery that shifts from lake to forest to waterfall, this is Québec bike touring at its most memorable.

Meet your leaders and ease into the week with a guided walking tour of historic Québec City. Cobblestone streets, stone walls and French-Canadian charm make a beautiful beginning to your Lac Saint-Jean adventure. Tonight, gather for a welcome dinner and get to know your fellow travelers.

After breakfast, travel north through the beautiful Laurentides Wildlife Reserve toward Lac Saint-Jean. Your first ride begins at Plage du Rigolet in Métabetchouan, where lake views and fresh air welcome you to the region. From there, pedal toward Alma on a scenic introductory ride, with your first taste of the Véloroute des Bleuets and the wide-open beauty of blueberry country.

Today is your longest ride of the tour, and it’s a beauty. Much of the route follows dedicated bike paths, including a memorable 20-kilometer stretch through Pointe-Taillon National Park. Ride past sandy beaches, quiet forest and peaceful wetlands, with plenty of chances to pause and take in the lake. Keep your eyes open, as this is a wonderful habitat for moose, beavers and birds.

Biking: 53 miles (86 kilometers) 
Elevation Gain/Loss: 1,681 feet (512 meters) ascent, 1,559 feet (475 meters) descent

Today you’ll follow a mix of designated bike trail and quiet country roads as you make your way toward Saint-Félicien. Along the way, stop at a local blueberry shop for a taste of one of the region’s signature flavors. Lunch is served beside Les Chutes à l’Ours, where the Mistassini River tumbles over the rocks.  

Afterward, enjoy time for a swim before continuing to the township of Saint-Félicien, where we will spend the night.

Biking: 39 miles (62 kilometers) 
Elevation Gain/Loss: 1,054 feet (321 meters) ascent, 1,099 feet (335 meters) descent

Start the day with a visit to Zoo Sauvage de Saint-Félicien, one of Canada’s largest wildlife parks and a memorable window into the boreal north. You’ll have time to look for caribou, bison, moose, bears and other cold-climate species before continuing your ride toward Val-Jalbert. 

By afternoon, arrive at Village historique de Val-Jalbert, a beautifully preserved former company town that offers a fascinating glimpse into the region’s industrial past. With historic buildings, forested paths and a waterfall nearby, it’s an atmospheric place to call home for the next two nights.

Biking: 34 miles (54 kilometers) 
Elevation Gain/Loss: 912 feet (278 meters) ascent, 870 feet (265 meters) descent

Today’s loop ride takes you to Parc de la Caverne Trou de la Fée, a fascinating natural site near Desbiens. Known as “Fairy Hole,” the park features forested trails, dramatic rock walls and an underground cave system shaped over time by water and stone.

You’ll have time to explore the cool cave passages, take in the unique rock formations and enjoy the park’s mysterious, tucked-away atmosphere before riding back to Val-Jalbert. Tonight, gather in the historic village for a final dinner together and a well-earned toast to the week’s adventures.

Elevation Gain/Loss: 2,027 feet (618 meters) ascent, 2,025 feet (617 meters) descent

Close the loop around majestic Lac Saint-Jean with one final ride toward Métabetchouan. Depending on the weather, there may be time for a refreshing stop at the beach before saying goodbye to the lake and returning to Québec City.  

You’ll arrive back at Hôtel Château Laurier Québec with new stories, tired legs and a full heart.

On the first day of the tour, please meet at the Hôtel Château Laurier Québec at 3:30pm. You are welcome to book your pre-tour stay at this hotel directly or any other hotel in Québec City, though you must make your own way to the pick-up point at the pre-designated time. 

Your tour ends with a drop-off back at Hôtel Château Laurier Québec at 4:00pm.

Arrival: We recommend arriving in Quebec City (YQB) before 12pm. Many guests like to arrive a day or two early to accommodate potential flight delays and/or explore the city prior to your tour start. 

Departure: Flying out on the last day of the tour, we recommend departing from Quebec City (YQB) after 7:00pm. Earlier flight times will require a separate transfer booked at your own expense. 

If you plan to drive to the tour’s pick-up location, please ensure you arrange parking for the duration of your tour. If the pick-up point is a hotel, we recommend contacting them directly to inquire about parking availability. Keep in mind some hotels do not permit non-guests to park on-site, so you may need to find alternative parking options.
