Explore New York’s Finger Lakes with lakeside roads, rolling vineyards, waterfalls, and charming small towns.

Our tour of the Finger Lakes region of upstate New York takes you along the two largest of the lovely Finger Lakes, Cayuga and Seneca — and one of the most scenic, Keuka. You start and finish in the beautiful and vibrant college town of Ithaca, known for its river gorges. And you explore several of the area’s iconic small towns, including Hammondsport, Watkins Glen, Seneca Falls and Ovid. Listen for the osprey and kingfisher birds calling as you enjoy the combination of stunning lake views and classic farm country.

Each day offers a range of riding from about 25 to 50 miles, allowing you to skip sections if you want — including some of the more challenging hills. Most people choose gravel bikes or hybrid bikes for this tour, but e-bikes are another great way to enjoy this glacier-carved lake country, where much of the climbing is to traverse the ridges between the lake valleys. You are treated to views of several of the famous local waterfalls and have the opportunity to visit outstanding wineries, breweries and ice cream makers. You also visit historic Seneca Falls, where the U.S. women’s suffrage movement was focused at a convention in 1848 … an important step leading to voting rights for women 100 years ago.

Our Finger Lakes tour includes two nights at Glenora Winery, enjoying lake-view rooms from the inn, an on-site restaurant and two tastings. The routes also enable you to ride the entire tour without using the van if you choose.

FAQs

We know you might have a few questions before you book. Our Frequently Asked Questions cover useful information to help you feel ready for the ride.

On the first morning of the tour please meet us at the La Tourelle Hotel and Spa at 8am, at the van with your luggage for an introduction and safety meeting. You are welcome to book your pre-tour stay at this hotel directly or any other hotel in Ithaca, New York, though you must make your own way to the pick-up point at the pre-designated time.

Your tour ends back at La Tourelle Hotel and Spa at 12pm. The closest airport is Ithaca, New York, and there are direct flights there from Newark Airport, JFK Airport and others.

Arrival: We recommend arriving in New York at least the day before your tour starts. Many guests like to arrive a day or two early to accommodate potential flight delays and/or explore the city prior to your tour start.

Departure: Flying out on the last day of the tour, we recommend departing from Ithaca after 3pm. Earlier flight times will require a separate transfer booked at your own expense.

If you plan to drive to the tour’s pick-up location, please ensure you arrange parking for the duration of your tour. If the pick-up point is a hotel, we recommend contacting them directly to inquire about parking availability. Keep in mind some hotels do not permit non-guests to park on-site, so you may need to find alternative parking options.

You’ll be fully supported throughout the tour with two experienced tour leaders — one riding alongside the group and another following in a support vehicle. The support van travels with you on all riding days, stocked with snacks and tools, and ready to help with repairs or provide a lift whenever needed.

Your tour leaders are there for more than just the cycling. They’re happy to assist with logistics, help arrange transport, and share local insights and recommendations to help you make the most of each stop along the way.
