Itinerary

From start to finish, check out the route.

DAY 1 - Arrival Day
Distance: 24 miles | Terrain: Easier | Novotel Rayong
Starting at 8 a.m, you are picked up from your Bangkok hotel and taken on a 2.5-hour drive south, passing the towns of Chonburi and Pattaya to start your ride at a secluded Buddhist temple. After being fitted with your bike, ride at a gentle pace through small farming communities. Along the way, stop at a roadside restaurant for pad thai, everyone's favorite light Thai meal. The ride brings you to your accommodation, a resort sitting on a headland overlooking the Gulf of Thailand. From the resort, take a short walk to a nearby town where you can explore local shops and an aquarium. Get ready for your welcome dinner at the resort and enjoy views of Koh Samet Island – one of the most popular weekend holiday escapes for folks from Bangkok. Dinner is together as a group.
DAY 2 - Cycle the Coast to Chanthaburi
Distance: 33 Miles | Terrain: Easier | Maneechan Hotel
After an early start, breakfast and a short drive, you ride on coastal roads and take a break at one of the food vendors or cafes with hammocks, perfectly placed for relaxation. Lunch is included. You can also swim at the beach before continuing to the city of Chanthaburi. Finish the ride at a comfortable resort located on the outskirts of town, which is situated on one of the key irrigation channels. Dinner is served to the group at the resort tonight.
DAY 3 - Cycle Rural Chanthaburi
Distance: 28 miles | Terrain: Easier | Battambang Resort
This morning, you take a delightful ride to discover the town of Chanthaburi and its adjacent farming areas. Your first stop is the Catholic quarter, followed by the morning market, where you can savor freshly made snacks and traditional tea. Then, head out of town and ride through fruit orchards on less-used roads, including mangosteen, rambutan, longan, and of course, durian, which is loved by some and hated by others. You even visit a shrine to the fruit … Durian Land … where you can see how it is grown, sample the real fruit, and browse through quirky durian souvenirs and packaged products (depending on the season).

After lunch, you transfer for just over an hour to reach the Thailand/Cambodia border. At this point, your U.S. leader stays with you, but there’s a switch from your amazing Thai support team to your charming Cambodian support team. You experience several differences when you cross over into Cambodia. There are fewer vehicles, less development … and more enthusiastic children calling out cheerful hellos from the villages and byways. Arrive in Battambang, the provincial capital, just before sunset where your lovely lodging awaits. Dinner is together.
DAY 4 - Welcome to Cambodia; Ride to Battambang
Distance: 16 miles | Terrain: Easier | Battambang Resort
This morning take a tour led by students of Kinyei: a local vocational training NGO that has created a cycling program called Soksabike. With this cycling tour, discover the various neighborhoods and livelihoods of Battambang — most of which are food related — so bring your appetite! This exploration provides a great insight into how the locals live and get by here. You see the production of rice wine, dried bananas, and a local snack called Kralanh (bamboo sticky rice) before you return to town for lunch. Next, hop on the new bamboo train, a community-driven initiative that supports local livelihoods. Travel along a 4-kilometer track through breathtaking scenery alongside the Banan hills. The rest of the afternoon is yours to explore the town or to enjoy some time by the pool. Dinner is on your own.
DAY 5 - Scenic Countryside Ride & Transfer to Siem Reap
Distance: 28 miles | Terrain: Easier | Battambang Resort
Embark on a morning ride that will take you through the stunning countryside of Battambang. Begin your journey with a scenic drive past picturesque villages and lush forests to reach Prasat Banan, an 11th-century Angkorian temple perched atop 358 stairs on a steep hill overlooking the Sangker River. Feel free to climb up the stairs to marvel at the impressive architecture and learn about the incredible engineering feats that went into building this ancient temple. As you journey through the countryside, witness the diverse way of life that thrives in this region, including passing by the local mosques. After your ride, return to your hotel for lunch and some time to refresh yourself for the next leg of the journey. In the afternoon, bid farewell to Battambang and embark on a scenic three-hour drive to Siem Reap. Along the way, take in the stunning views of the countryside and anticipate the adventure and discovery that awaits you in Siem Reap. Dinner is together.
DAY 6 - Trails of Angkor
Distance: 22 miles | Terrain: Easier | Shinta Mani
Today, you ride the trails and paths through the Angkor archeological park, visiting some of the most impressive but relatively unknown temples, Preah Khan and Ta Som. These are connected by a network of shaded trails through the beautiful forest that forms one of the best protected national parks in Cambodia. At times during your ride, you pop out of the secret route to find busloads of tourists being herded through the main highlights ... but you avoid the crowds and instead time the visits to take advantage of the quieter periods and the hidden highlights of these vast ancient structures. The ride concludes just before sunset at our resort for the evening. Celebration dinner is tonight, at one of Siem Reap’s best restaurants … where carefully guarded family recipes have been lovingly preserved for years.
DAY 7 - Angkor at Sunrise - Departure Day
Distance: 11 miles | Terrain: Easier
Prepare to rise early this morning as you get moving before the sun has peeked out above the horizon and the first roosters have started to crow. You transfer to the otherworldly Angkor National Park, where the group gathers in front of the many imposing towers of the main temple itself. There is an opportunity to experience the spectacular color show as the sun rises behind the great temple’s spires.

Once the sun is up and the crowds of tourists have dispersed, you begin the in-depth exploration of this and other ancient temples in the Angkor complex and enjoy breakfast in these peaceful surroundings. Discover the mysteries this jungle has to offer as you cycle down narrow tracks and hidden dirt paths to iconic temples such as Bayon or Ta Prohm, and some of the lesser-known ancient structures.

Lunch is by the Sra Srang Reservoir that surrounds the Angkor Wat temple before heading back to the hotel. With a late checkout, you have plenty of time to pack … and leaders will be ready to take you to the airport for your departing flight. Unless, of course, you plan on spending more time exploring and enjoying this terrific town and its many great arts, culinary, and active options.
