Itinerary

From start to finish, check out the route.

DAY 1 - Arrival Day
Travel day | No activities | The Aviary Hotel
Arrive in Siem Reap on your own schedule. Take a taxi or ride service 20 minutes from the airport and check into your boutique hotel (included) and relax after your travels. Enjoy the pool and Khmer Tonics Spa and Gym, if you like. If you get in early, the hotel offers several excursions. You are completely flexible on this day. The hotel stay is the only included item.
DAY 2 - Hike in Kulen National Park
Distance: Hike 4 miles (6.5 km) | Terrain: Intermediate | The Aviary Hotel
Meet your guide at 8 a.m. at the hotel. Put on your tennis shoes and drive about an hour in an air-conditioned vehicle through the Cambodian countryside to reach Kulen National Park. Take a hike on the Langur Trail — named for the shy, leaf-eating monkeys that inhabit the area. Your walk takes you past fascinating riverbed carvings and a waterfall … all the way to a temple set into the escarpment. Take a refreshing dip in the spring-fed pool before returning to your comfortable hotel in Siem Reap. Dinner is together at one of the city’s best restaurants.
DAY 3 - Biking Banteay Srei & Angkor
Distance: 36 miles (58 km) | Terrain: Intermediate - 60% paved, 40% gravel, mostly flat | The Aviary Hotel
Cycle from the hotel doorstep and out into the Angkor Archeological Park. Ride the Angkor Bikeway and hidden trails through the ruins and forest of Angkor. Pause to visit several fascinating temple sites built in the 12th and 13th centuries, which include Buddhist and Hindu carvings and structures. See the Bayon with its serene faces and banyan trees. Enjoy the stunning and significant Preah Khan temple — much of which has been left unrestored with plants growing among the stone structures. Stop at the atmospheric and compact Ta Som temple, with a dramatic ficus (fig) tree enveloping one of the towers. We offer traditional snacks and coconut juice to enjoy as you push on to Banteay Srei with its unique pink sandstone temple featuring intricate carvings. After exploring that site, eat lunch together at a local restaurant and then return to the hotel by vehicle.
DAY 4 - Departure Day: Angkor Sunrise & Biking
Distance: 12 miles (20 km) | Terrain: Intermediate 40% paved, 60% gravel, mostly flat with some short hills
Your final day in Cambodia includes an unforgettable sunrise over Angkor Wat, the most iconic of all the temples. Use the soft light of early morning and the absence of other travelers (most of whom go back to bed) to explore the chambers and the inner core of the temple. Your guide interprets the stories depicted in the plentiful carvings. Leave the temple with a sense of calm and awe, and enjoy breakfast in a secluded spot by the river. Then take one final ride through the hidden trails and along the top of the defensive walls of Angkor Thom. Visit the highlight temple of Ta Prom, passing closely by the hidden Tanei temple. Return to your hotel for a quick shower and late checkout. Your guide will then transport you to the airport and see you off as you depart for home or further travels.
