This tour features two nights at the luxurious On the River Inn, where every room has a private balcony overlooking the river, and where you enjoy country elegant decor, welcoming hosts and inspired dining. The biking is exceptional. Saturday takes us into Pomfret where, after a visit to the Teago General Store, we ride up Cheadle Hill (optional) and then delight in a seven-mile gentle downhill enjoying some of Vermont’s most gorgeous vistas. In Quechee we can shop for crafts, pottery, and exquisite glassware at Simon Pearce, and ride out to the bridge crossing famous Quechee Gorge. Our return takes us along the river’s edge, past Taftsville Covered Bridge, and into Woodstock. Woodstock is often described as the prettiest village in America and is renowned for its Colonial-era architecture, beautiful village green, many enticing shops and galleries, and the fascinating Billings Farm and Museum. On Sunday, we take a beautiful ride south along Kedron Brook passing through picturesque South Woodstock and visiting its country store before arriving at a vista overlooking the Jenne Farm, possibly one of the most photographed scenes in New England.
